Joanne talked about finishing up a Priscilla Shirer study and writing down the top ten things you learned from it. So I have decided to do the same for Breaking Free. But I will have twelve. And they are my 12 top statements. Because I suffer from a lineage of rebels. Entire family can't stand to be told what to do. Hence, the Breaking Free.
1. What future do I want? How do I want this (life) to turn out?
2. If our liberty in Christ is going to be a reality, we are going to have to learn to walk in the freedom of Christ, independent of everyone else we know.
3. You may never feel like giving your circumstance, hurt, or loss to Him; but you can choose to submit to His authority out of belief and obedience rather than emotion.
4. But we'll never make it to our milestones if we can't make it through our moments. There is a moment of decision.
5. Even a thin chain can strangle the life out of you.
6. The enemy's hope for Christians is that we will either be so ineffective we have no testimony or we'll ruin the one we do have.
7. Self - protection is the #1 thing that keeps us from our calling.
8. Liberty and authority will always go hand in hand.
9. Belief is not a feeling. It's a choice.
10. Confession means coming to the point of saying the same thing God says about any specific matter.
11. The richest testimonies come from people Christ has made whole who still remember what it was like to be broken.
12. What he (Satan) has arranged for your overthrow, take and appropriate for yourself.

2,3,7, and 9 just to name a few - as someone who has a tendency to be rather emotional, i hold to these - that it is not based on how I feel - it is a choice to believe and obey
also like the one about self-protection being the greatest inhibitor to living out our calling

my biggest realization is one from the SLI seminar....by being insecure you are telling God "Youre not who you say you are and i'm not really who you made me to be" kind of like oh crap, that's big. trusting that he does have a plan and purpose for us and that our gifts do matter to someone...whether it be the 90 yr old lady we visit at the nursing home or the 1yr old teach in sunday school - you matter!
2,6,9. Good stuff can keep us from the Great stuff.

THAT was exactly what I needed to read today...can't even pick out my favorite because every one of them is so good! Still reading over them......love it!
